Literature Text

I
will
begin.

The first thing--
see the oils,
observe the ash tray.

Where else besides this world do the
oils gleam in vitro,
mark the cement
with celestial mouths, toothless
delighted old sneers--
of diluted smears.

Who in this costly world have we
to blame for dull eyes,
colors in a smoke-bronze ashtray,
only ever gray?
Ashes never pray.

And second--
pray hear the cattails
Define their whisper, their deep husk.
in another world they weep; the
crushed spindle crushes woven dusk.

Observe the weave, its fray
Our Earth is fabric.
Pray pay attention.
It is
all.
I am SO HAPPY with how this turned out. My English teacher, Mr. Holzer, showed us a song by Tool today, where the lyrics were written by the Fibonacci Sequence...which is a sequence of numbers that goes like this:

1+1=2
2+1=3
3+2=5
5+3=8

see the pattern? The syllables are measured like that. Try and figure it out in my poem!

It was also the first day, and I was pretty surprised that he assigned us something so hardcore, but I wanted to impress him. Plus I hate writing stinky poetry.

This talks about the wonders of our world and how little it takes to impress human beings.
